Finance (Photo credit: Tax Credits)What to do with my degree in finance once I graduate?
I am a University of Illinois finance major and graduating next semester. I have a solid GPA of 3.4 and yet I feel as though its not good enough. However, skipping that, what I really want to know is what some people did to find the job they love. I am having a difficult time deciding what I want to do. I was leaning towards personal wealth management such as an advisor, but have heard nothing but bad things. Also I have yet to start interviewing and I graduate in may 2008 so I need to be ready and stop pussing out. Hopefully I will find something I want or hear some good suggestions. So what are some careers in Finance beside consulting or auditing because after watching office space I really don't want a job typing tps reports?
Upon graduation, your career can take many paths (naturally), but most Finance majors find jobs in the finance departments of firms; with banks, mutual funds, and other kinds of financial institutions; or in government or some kind of charitable organization. Some schools offer specialized areas of concentration within the Finance major as well - in insurance and real estate for example.
